WHAT'S HAPPENING

THE FREE CLINIC (12201 Euclid Ave.) will be starting a new Drop-In Group for Women who wish to explore and develop their feelings for other women, or may be considering coming out. The group will begin January 12, 1979 and will meet at the Free Clinic on Friday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30. There are no fees or eligibility requirements at the Free Clinic. Any Interested women are welcome.

EDUCATION FOR FREEDOM OF CHOICE IN OHIO [EFCO) is initiating a Volunteer Speakers Bureau to address groups on pro-choice issues. Workshops for speakers consist of two 3-hour sessions. The FIRST INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS ON WOMEN IN MUSIC is now in the planning stages. A committee has been formed in New York City to plan the Congress' presen. tation of scholarly papers and performances of music by past and contemporary women composers. A WOMEN'S CHOIR will be forming in Cleveland this December. All women who like to sing, play piano or guitar, or direct are encouraged to participate. All the music learned will be written by women. NEW WOMEN'S TIMES, a new national publication for women, has appeared on the newsstands. The opening Issue features articles and reviews by Erica Jong, Gloria Steinem, Phyllis Chealer, Grace Paley, Marge Piercy, Shere Hite, Adrienne Rich and others.

THE ASSOCIATION FOR WOMEN IN PSYCHOLOGY will hold its sixth annual Conference en Feminist Psychology in Dallas from March 8 through March 11. The Association, established in 1989, founded to encourage feminist psychological research on sex and gender, and to end the use of "Mental Health Professions" as a means of enforcing institutionalized sexism. The Association is encouraging women researchers to submit papers on such things as feminist politics, sex role development and lesbianism.

The NEW ENGLAND WOMEN'S SYMPHONY, a showcase for the work of women composers and conductors, has been formed in Boston. The group will present newly found works by neglected women composers of the past, as well as encourage the performance of contemporary works. The NEWS will be open by audition to both male and female musicians; it will be conducted by Kay Gardner, and will present its first concert December 3.

AMERICAN FRIENDS SERVICE COMMITTEE sponsors a vigil for safe energy every Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at CEI, Public Square.

THE LONGEST WALK Communication Center has been operation since April at 2699 Clifton Avenue, Cincinnati Ohio 45220, to bring awareness to the public about Native American culture, history, and current issues. The Center gives presentations on these topics; lectures are given in classroom, auditorium-type settings. Présentations are also given to civic organizations, community and church groups. Workshops can be arranged.

The Longest Walk usually asks for an honorarium of $100 and expenses for large groups, and $75 for classroom settings. Most lectures are consistent with the needs of the sponsoring organization or group. The lecturers are American Indians who have lived on reservations and are directly involved with current Issues.
